So, even if you’re one of the ones who don’t enjoy practicing surf, but do love watching it from the beach’s safety; we’ll make sure you relax at a beautiful place and enjoy the scenery. We offer you rustic-palm-roofed cabins (just as Costa Rican indigenous people used to make theirs). Mal Pais Getting There

Located in Costa Rica , down at the Nicoya Península, on a small town called Santa Teresa of Mal País. Santa Teresa beach has miles of white sand, natural pools and excitement for those who want to surf or enjoy Costa Rican Beaches.

By Car
You can rent a car and drive to Mal País. You should take the Inter American Highway to Puntarenas province. Driving from San Jose to Puntarenas takes approximately 2.5 hours. Once there, you should board the ferry to Paquera for a 1 and a half hour ride across the Nicoya gulf. Once in Paquera it is only 1 hour and 15 minutes to Santa Teresa of Mal País. The ferry departs from Puntarenas every 2 hours. The earliest one leaves at 4:30 in the morning, and the last one at 8:30 at night. El ferry de Puntarenas a Paquera sale cada 2 horas. El primero es a las 4:30 de la mañana y el ultimo es a las 8:30 de la noche.

By Air
Get on a direct flight from San José to Tambor’s domestic airport. Then jump on a taxi to Mal País. Please contact us for your prior reservations.

By Bus
For those who are travelling on a limited budget, there are buses to Puntarenas. There are buses departing from San Jose’s main station every hour. Once you’re at Puntarenas, take a taxi to the ferry port (1 mile), then board the ferry to Paquera. Down at Paquera take a bus to Cóbano. This bus will leave you at downtown Cóbano, where you should get on a local bus to Santa Teresa. It’s best to depart early in the morning to make the connections on time.
For example, if you take the 7 am bus to Puntarenas, you’ll be catching the 10:30 am ferry to Paquera. Then you would be taking the bus that will take you down to Cóbano in one hour and 15 minutes. Because the bus to Santa Teresa leaves around 2:30 pm, you’d have time to enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants (or “sodas” as called in Costa Rica). One hour after you get in the bus, you’ll be reaching Santa Teresa.
If you are in Jaco
If you happen to be down at Jaco, there’s a boat service to Montezuma. You should then get a taxi to Santa Teresa. Reservations for both the boat and taxi are required.
